Peninsula Symphonic Band members rehearse. Submitted.

The Peninsula Symphonic Band will begin rehearsals for its upcoming season next month, marking the start of the community band’s 36th year of making music throughout Door County.

The first rehearsal is on Monday, April 6, at 7 pm at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1756 Michigan St. in Sturgeon Bay.

The Peninsula Symphonic Band is a volunteer ensemble open to any high school or adult musician with reasonable instrumental proficiency. New members are always welcome. Interested musicians are encouraged to reach out in advance to request copies of the repertoire to prepare before the first rehearsal.

The band offers two seasons each year: spring-summer (April through July) and fall-winter (September through December). Its wide-ranging repertoire includes marches, patriotic selections, movie themes and popular music.

Made up of approximately 75 musicians, including about 15 high school students, the band currently has openings in all sections. Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings from 7 to 8:30 pm at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
