The Peninsula Symphonic Band and the Swingin’ Door Big Band announce the recipients of their 2024 Summer Band Camp Scholarships. Ten Door County middle school and high school musicians will each receive $250 toward their summer band camp tuition.

Those receiving this year’s scholarships are:

  • Benjamin Grota, Sturgeon Bay, Southern Door
  • Adley LaVine, Sturgeon Bay, Southern Door
  • Jesse Thorson, Sturgeon Bay, Southern Door
  • Marisa Pitzen, Luxemburg, Southern Door
  • Miles Richmond, Baileys Harbor, Gibraltar
  • Olive Wisniewski, Baileys Harbor, Gibraltar
  • Graham DeVoe, Baileys Harbor, Gibraltar
  • Wilson DeVoe, Baileys Harbor, Gibraltar
  • Clara Carriere, Baileys Harbor, Gibraltar
  • Caleb Johnson, Forestville, Sevastopol

“We are very pleased to present these outstanding young musicians with these scholarships,” said Peninsula Symphonic Band Music Director Jason Palmer. “We want to do all that we can to encourage young music students to advance their skills and musicianship because doing so helps to make their school music programs that much stronger.”

Each student had to complete an application, write a 250 word essay on what they hoped to learn at summer music camp and submit a recommendation from their school instrumental music director.

The scholarship program is funded through the proceeds collected at Swingin’ Door Big Band and Peninsula Symphonic Band performances.
