The Swingin’ Door Big Band – part of the Peninsula Symphonic Band program – will debut Oct. 24 at Maxwelton Braes in Baileys Harbor. During the ’90s, the Peninsula Jazz Band performed for various functions, and now that music has returned.
“It is extremely exciting to work with this group of exceptional musicians in recreating that unique 1930s and ’40s big band sound,” said Jason Palmer, music director of both bands. “I think the audience is going to have as much fun listening and dancing as all the musicians do playing.”
Thyme Cuisine at Maxwelton Braes will offer a special three-course dinner package for $20 on Oct. 24, 5:30-6:30 pm, with the Swingin’ Door starting at 7 pm. Andria Nikoupolis-Weliky from Dancin’ on the Door will offer dance instruction to help audience members learn some of the less familiar dance steps.
In addition to the cost of the dinner, there will be a $10 coverage charge for the band performance. For those who are not having dinner, there will be a two-drink minimum purchase plus the $10 coverage charge.
